What We Do
Education
Wana Duma was founded with education at our core. We provide children with the support and supplies they need and cover school fees on an individual basis.
Health
Our health services are as varied as the needs. We cover medical costs, prescriptions and preventative measures as well as food and rental assistance for families.
Environment & Water
We are planting thousands of native trees on our Eco-Village property – also home to our solar-powered water project that provides easy water access to over 50 families.
Wana Duma's Impact:
Our small size allows us to approach every need we encounter with a unique solution and individualized assistance. When working with students, we identify the roadblocks of each child enrolled in our program and determine the best route to success. For our mothers with AIDS, grandmothers and members of the remote Samburu Tribe requiring medical assistance, we meet them and together decide how we can assist. To install our first solar-powered water pump and community tap, we communicated with and hired local villagers throughout the process to ensure it met their needs as well as our goals.
Due to our individualized approach, our students graduate from either traditional or vocational school at an impressive rate. As they finish school and secure sustainable employment, we continue to mentor and support young leaders through various means. We take a similar approach with anyone receiving health services from Wana Duma, following up to ensure they’re comfortable and have what they need, as well as staying in touch for the months and years to come.
