The Korogocho slum neighborhood is built on and around Nairobi’s largest garbage dump. An estimated 150,000 to 200,000 people live in squalid conditions packed densely together in a 1.5 square kilometer (0.6 square mile) area.
Wana Duma supports a family of six that were living in the Korogocho slums. This family consists of a mother with AIDS and her five children – two of which also have AIDS. We were very fortunate to be able to move this family further away from Korogocho and help find adequate housing. All six are currently healthy and the children are attending school. We would like to continue to track this family and provide assistance for as long as needed. Donations continue to be needed to supply the family with food, school supplies, tuition and clothing.
